Current Volunteer Positions Available
Merchandise Depot: Volunteer will open/close sales depot, greet visitors and record visitor attendance, sell merchandise and document sales, and operate the fog controls for the engine. Volunteer will be scheduled 12:45PM - 4:15PM on the open day of their choice. Training is provided.
Engineer: Volunteer will open/close engine, supervise visitors in the engine & maintain order of children ringing the bell, and answer visitor questions about the engine when able. Volunteer will be scheduled 12:45PM - 4:15PM on the open day of their choice. Training is provided.
Event Coordinator: Volunteer will organize events planned by the Friends of the 457 Board, such as Opening Day, Trick-or-Treat at the Train, and Toys-4-Tots at the Train drive.
Garden Zone Leader: Volunteers are assigned a specific area of the garden for which they take responsibility for maintaining throughout the season. This includes picking up debris such as trash, sticks, bush trimmings, and leaves. Removal of weeds. Reporting of damaged stones, plants, or fixtures to the Cannonball Gardens Chairman. Leaders are asked to inspect their designated area weekly throughout the season and to attend the Spring and Fall cleanup events if available.
Gardener: Volunteer picks up debris such as trash, sticks, bush trimmings, and leaves, throughout any area of the garden they chose. Reporting of damaged stones, plants, or fixtures to the Cannonball Gardens Chairman or zone leader. Volunteers are encouraged to attend the Spring and Fall cleanup events if available.
Shrub Trimmer: Volunteer is asked to trim the shrubs throughout the gardens three times throughout the season (May, July, and September) and as needed. Equipment is provided.
Leaf Blower: Volunteer is asked to blow the leaves out of gardens prior to season opening and during the Fall season as needed. Equipment is provided.
